Leona Lewis at the Top of the Charts Again for the Week of April 14, 2008
British songstress Leona Lewis is back at the top of the charts this week and knocks Mariah Carey from the coveted spot. In fact, she is the first British artist to top both the Hot 100 and 200 charts at the same time, since Phil Collins and Olivia-Newton John did back in 1990 and 1974! This week, she debuted at #1 with her single "Bleeding Love." So far, Leona is getting rave reviews on her debut album and it appears that she is not leaving the charts anytime soon.
Lil' Wayne took the #2 spot with his single "Lollipop" featuring Static Major (R.I.P). "Lollipop" is also one of the most downloaded songs on iTunes so Lil' Wayne has scored a hit with this single. Tune in next week to see if this song has staying power on the charts. I can tell you that the song is popular among radio station circuits.
At # 3, Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown are sticking around with their single "No Air." The song moved up a notch from what it was last week. Also, the sales of the single has been increasing.
Usher moved down a couple of spots from last week and is now #4 on the charts with his single "Love In This Club." I am actually surprised that this single didn't take the #1 spot this week since the video recently premiered.
Mariah fell down to the #5 spot this week with her single "Touch My Body." The R&B diva released her new CD E=MC2 this week. Look out for the review of the CD within the next couple of days. Hint: It is not looking good!
Ray J. holds the #6 spot this week. His new album All I Feel was released about a week ago and actually debuted well on the charts. Superstar Madonna is holding the #7 spot this week. Last week, she was #3. I am also surprised that she is not #1. Her new single "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake, seems to be playing everywhere.
Chris Brown is holding steady at #8 with his single "With You." In addition, Flo Rida is still grasping that #10 spot with "Low" featuring T-Pain.
As can see, the billboard charts are unpredictable from week to week. Who will make it to the top next week? Will it be Lil' Wayne or will Leona Lewis take the spot again? "Lollipop" is taking the airwaves by storm. I really think Lil' Wayne can get that #1 spot next week. What do you think? Stay tuned....
