Fresh off the heels of a public debacle, Kanye West is back on top with a staggering nine award nominations at the upcoming BET Hip-Hop Awards. Mr. West was nominated in the following categories: Best Hip-Hop Collaboration, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Producer of the Year, CD of the Year, MVP of the Year, Hustler of the Year, the Made-You-Look Award (for style) and People's Champ. Jay-Z and Lil Wayne, following closely behind Kanye West, received seven nominations each. In addition, T.I. has six nominations.
The big awards show will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on October 10th, 2009. The show will be televised on October 27th, 2009, with Mike Epps lined up as the host.
One of the highlights of the Grammy's was Jay-Z, T.I, Kanye West, pregnant M.I.A, and Lil Wayne performing "Swagga Like Us." I guess M.I.A decided to get on stage and roc the mic with some of Hip-Hop's greatest superstars. It was good to see all of them on stage together.
Check out this T.I interview on Tyra. He is selling a massive amount of records right now. Do you think that he will do better than Lil Wayne? I do not think he will sell more than Lil Wayne once things are all said and done, but he will still continue to do a good job. Stay posted as I will talk about some other records that will come out this year and see how they are going to compare to Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III
He took that #1 spot. T.I's first week sales of 568,000 for his new album Paper Trail, earned him that #1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts. This is his third #1 on the Billboard 200 charts. T.I. is also killing things with his new single "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna on the billboard charts. Jennifer Hudson also had a great week by selling 217,000 copies of her self-titled debut album. Robin Thicke held the #3 spot with his new album Something Else, which sold 137,000 copies. In my book, they all had very impressive sales for the first week and that would definitely have me smiling.
Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child released her CD Unexpected yesterday. I wonder if she will have the same amount of luck that T.I., Jennifer Hudson, and Robin Thicke did? I guess we can only find out next week what her first week of album sales looks like...
T.I. is on the cover of the October/November issue of Giant Magazine looking like he is about to star in The Matrix. LOL!! All he needs is a pair of black shades and then he would be straight!!! Anyway, his album Paper Trail is expected to have a very good debut next week. I'm sure he is all smiles about that...
T.I. is shown here getting the party hype at the Patron Music Motion Tour Party yesterday. And I see he was there promoting his album too. I am sure everyone got loaded with some Patron there. Fabolous, Wendy Williams, and Flo Rida were at the event. Flo Rida sure has been on the low lately...
Today, T.I. releases his long-awaited album Paper Trail. Along with him Jennifer Hudson and Robin Thicke also released albums on the same day. A lot of people have been anticipating Jennifer Hudson's album and Robin Thicke. Who do you think will come out on top? I think for sure that T.I. will sell the most records during it's first week. Jennifer Hudson will probably come in second behind T.I. What do you think will happen? I don't think that Dem Franchize Boyz or Mur will even get close to the rest of the artists.
We all have heard that The Blueprint 3 is going to drop at the end of the year. Well, it has now been confirmed by BET.com that Jay-Z will drop the album on December 2. This will be his last album under his Def Jam contract. Do you think that Jay-Z will quit rapping or do you think he will work out a new deal?
Also, in other Jay Hov news, the rapper is working on his own version of "Swagger Like Us." The original version featured Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and T.I. Jay-Z's version is going to feature Young Jeezy, Nas, and Andre 3000. Now I can already tell you that Jay-Z's version is going to be dope! I am glad he added he added these guys to the song. I was actually wondering where Jeezy was on Kanye's version.
That's right people. There's no stank coming from this rumor. Big Boi has decided to ditch his longtime manager to roll with T.I. and his crew at Grand Hustle. Reportedly, T.I.'s manager has approached Big Boi about joining the Grand Hustle Family and the word on the street is that Big Boi has accecpted, even though he has not formally made any comments about the matter. Amid all of the new hype, he will be releasing his upcoming album Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty on October 28th. (Did ya'll get that by the way?) That is one loooong album title! I guess we will have to see how this news unfolds and how it will play in with the release of his album....
Man, I think these two are sooooo cute! They are always up under each other, but I don't quite get Tiny's style. Lawd, T.I. needs to hire his boo a stylist bad!!!! Those leopard skin capri's or whatever you wanna call them are horrendous!!! There is hope for her though. I am confident that one day, for once, she will dress right in a pic...Haha!!
T.I. and RiRi performed "Live Your Life" at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. Now, they are ready to shoot the video. They will shoot it during the first week of October. The track was produced by Just Blaze. I really like the song. Remember Paper Trail drops 0n September 30th, which is next week.
T.I.'s "Whatever You Like" begins a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is the fastest-growing track at radio at the moment. It remains a digital hit as well, having sold 145,000 copies in the United States this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Pink's new single, "So What" is gaining on his ass heavy jumping one spot to #2. Her single is also the top digital gainer after selling 197,000 downloads.
T.I. just premiered his new video for the single, "What's Up, What's Happening." I like the song. I can't wait to hear his upcoming album. It should be good. Anyway, do you all like the song?
So I guess producer Danja and T.I. hosted a dinner at One Sunset in Los Angeles the other day. A lot of people attended the event such as Keyshia Cole, D. Woods from Danity Kane, Fabolous, Omar Epps and his girl, Elise Neal, Busta Rhymes, Bryan Michael-Cox, Melyssa Ford, Polow Da Don, and a few other guests. What do ya'll think of some of these outfits in the pics below? I guess Keyshia Cole came to the spot showcasing her patriotism on her dress...What do ya'll think?
T.I. has to love his life right now. He has a new clothing line called Akoo. And to make things even better, his new single "Whatever You Like" has jumped from #71 on the Billboard charts to #1! His next single is rumored to be "Live Your Life" Featuring Rihanna, which we already know is going to be a hit. The pair is going to perform the single on this years MTV Video Music Awards so definitely stay tuned for that one. It should be hot! Anyway, congrats to T.I. and I am eagely awaiting his upcoming album Paper Trail.
"Swagger Like Us" is a new joint by T.I. Featuring the Hip-Hop "Dream Team." Reportedly, this track will be on T.I.'s upcoming album Paper Trail. The song is also going to be included on Jay-Z's Blueprint 3. It's a hot track and I like it. The song contains samples of M.I.A. song "PaperPlanes," which is a dope track too. T.I. recently made some comments to MTV News about this track leaking and he is not pleased.
“Don’t ruin the event. Wait till the cake comes out the kitchen before you eat it. That’s like a kid who sees his toys before Christmas; it takes away from me and I think it takes away from the fans as well. When it’s time, I’mma give it to you. They leaked my record with me and The-Dream [”Like I Do”] too. Leakage is never a problem I have had. I’m not used to it.”
Well, here is track, which is included in Kanye Wests' blog. Kanye made a comment in his blog about Jeezy not being on the song. Yeah, where is he? He stated that Jeezy may have to be on the remix. Anyway, listen to the song below:
106 & Park celebrated it's 2,000th episode yesterday. I can't believe it's been that long! Rocsi and Terrance were joined by LL Cool J, T.I., Jennifer Hudson, Keyshia Cole, Bow Wow, Ray J, Julissa, and Busta Rhymes. I am surprised that AJ and Free didn't stop by. I miss those two! The show just isn't the same without them. It's good to see that Terrance and Rocsi have kissed and made up.
T.I. is shown here getting his political on at the Hip-Hop Caucus' "Respect My Vote" campaign in Washington, DC the other day. I am glad that he and other artists in the industry are encouraging people to vote. Can you believe I barely signed up to vote about 3 months ago? This will be the first time that I have voted in an election. And no I did not sign up because one of the candidates is black either. I wanted to vote in the last election, but kept procrastinating and did not have the time to go out to vote. I promised myself I would vote next time so here we go. I wanted to be sure that my voice was heard this year. I encourage all of you out there to sign up to vote. It is fairly easy and doesn't take much time. If you vote, please do some research. Vote for the best candidate that shares in your belief systems. I really didn't used to be interested in politics, until about a few years ago when I took a politics class in school. A lot of people feel that their vote will not change anything, but one vote is better than nothing at all. Get out there and vote!
T.I.'s album "Paper Trail", has been pushed back from a Sept. 9 release date to a Sept. 30th release. Good news for all those producers trying to get on it.
