Artist to Watch Out For -Karina Pasian



If you haven't heard about this sixteen year-old phenomenon, then look no further. You are witnessing a star in the making. The young star has been prepping for the music business, for what it seems to be, her entire life. She began playing piano at the age of three, took dance and classical music lessons at four, and then began taking vocal lessons at the age of eight.

She caught the eye of music mogul Quincy Jones a few years ago and won star search in 2003. By the year 2006, she was caught in a bitter "tug of war" between Bad Boy, Def Jam, and Interscope. Def Jam won the battle and signed the singer to a deal later on that year.



This year, she is prepping for the June 3. release of her debut album titled First Love. Her new single "16 at War" just entered the charts about a week ago.

Karina's voice seems to be a cross between Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, and even Nina Sky. I've heard a few of her tracks and I am absolutely amazed! She is very talented to be so young. Her single "16 at War" is as real as it gets. I love the style that she represents. She is trying to send a positive message through her music.

In addition, if you haven't heard her version of Cassie's "Official Girl," then I will provide the link. Apparently, Karina recorded a demo of the track, produced by DanjaHandz and written by The Clutch!, before it got into the hands of Cassie. I've heard that the singer dismissed the track because it did not fit image. In my opinion, Karina sings the song better, than Cassie! Karina's vocals were emotional and fit the song better. I really could feel the pain of wanting to be someone's "official girl," after hearing her version. Cassie's version is still cool though. The track is hot regardless.
