We’ve all seen them, flamboyantly colored kicks consisting of at least 5 or 6 different colors, none of them matching. Or even worse, the clown rocking kicks smothered in patent leather or bootleg Gucci like it was 1994. Please folks put the obnoxious kicks to bed, or even better, donate them to Goodwill. It seems Nike drops a new Dunk or AF1 every week in limited quantity just to get shoe-nerds busting their pants and dropping that months rent check to appease the hipster in them. I'm a shoehead, I've always been one. I'm the kid who used to wake up at 5 am Saturday morning to get in line for the newest Air Jordan release. Over the years I've seen the shoe game change with Nike, (the only brand that touches my feet), putting out crazy color schemes that look like they were designed by your neighborhood basehead. I say keep it clean and simple people, you don’t need to have a pack of Skittles on your feet to be fresh. Also, you don’t need to have special edition AF1s designed by a Japanese post-modern pop artist to snap necks, rock what you like not what they tell you is cool. I know some of yall out there are hopeless and couldn’t match a pair of all white SB Dunks to save your life so I’m going to help you out. Here a couple of “DOs” and “DONTs” to keep your joints looking right for the summer. Don’t say Pops never did anything for you:
The DOs for this summer:
Nike Air Tech Challenges (classic nikes, that not everyone has, incorporating hot lava which is the freshest color this year)
Nike Goretex Dunk SB (keep it clean and simple and you can never go wrong, and these are the best Dunks I've seen in a while)
Nike AF1 Canvas Ice (best AF1s in years with the canvas material and clear ice soles, hard to maintain but good to bust out once in a while)
Nike Air Max 90s (the perfect Nike, comfortable, durable and stylish. These are built for everyday life)
Now, the DONTs;
Nike Donatello Dunk SB Mids (these are one of those Tylenol color schemes, gives me a headache just looking at them)
Nike Air Yeezys (Kanye West's signature shoe. Unless your name is Kanye West you shouldn't wear these, looks like they're designed for space travel and walking on the moon)
Nike Dunk SB High (pastels are done, and crazy patterns that look like table cloths are not a good like on your feet)
