Slim Thug is Fed Up With Interscope....
The Boss Hogg Outlaw is through with Interscope and promises that he will be released from his recording deal within a week. Since signing with Star Trak/Geffen/Interscope, the rapper feels that his project has been pushed back while the label works out it's current turmoil. Also, the rapper reports that a lot of employees were getting the axe. After the disappointing gold sales of his first major label debut Almost Platinum, he is ready to give the label the boot since he has already sold a lot of records independently. The rapper expressed that he was displeased with the label and felt that once he was signed, "They would do all the work now." According to MTV.com, the rapper stated:
"I sat down with the general manager. Really, I just sat down and told them, 'Y'all over here don't understand the type of music I do, and y'all hold me back while y'all trying to get your situation together. I ain't really got that time to sit on the sideline while you do this. Let me pay y'all. Y'all gave me all this money. Listen, I'll give y'all some money off the new album.' I just can't sit on the sideline while they do their sh--. He sat down with [Interscope Chairman] Jimmy [Iovine], and we all came up with something we could all agree with. It ain't no hard feelings."
For all of you Slim Thug fans, expect to hear some new material from him really soon. Before signing with the label, he was killing the game independently by selling a large amount of records. Now, he is ready to do it all over again his way. His next solo project titled Boss of All Bosses will be completed after a second album from The Boss Hogg Outlawz, which will be released through Koch Records. "The album is done," he said. "The paperwork is done. Then singles should follow." As far as his upcoming release is concerned, the rapper notes:
"It's gonna be different. You gonna hear a lot more Houston records. The feedback I got from my fans [about the] last album was that they wanted to hear a lot more Houston records. So I worked with people out of Houston, a bunch of producers I came up with. I did, like, 30 songs with these cats, so I really got the album done. I'm gonna get, like, two from Pharrell [Williams] and maybe work with a few other big producers, but keep it Houston."
I do not know what's up with Interscope, but they stalled on releasing Pharell's In My Mind and now they won't even release Out Of My Mind. I wouldn't be suprised if more artists from the label follow suit.... I am glad the Boss is back!
