Who's Confused by the Chrianna Reunion?

By now, everybody has heard about the Chris Brown and Rihanna situation, which has been swirling around on the net for weeks. I mean, I pretty much felt it was a no-brainer that they were finished with each other. However, when I began hearing that she was hiding details about the incident, something told me that it was highly possible that she'd take him back. Well, my suspicions were true. RiRi has given her R&B artist turned boxer boyfriend another chance! I mean, that's just insane to me! Why would she take him back after he bloodied and bruised her up like that? I know that only the both of them know the complete events that led to that violent tirade weeks ago. However, I'm just really disappointed in her. I guess she likes a good beating. True, we all make mistakes, but a situation of that nature should not be tolerated. It could have easily turned fatal. The sad thing about it is that a lot of women take men back, after they've been abused, which doesn't send a good message to the violator. I mean not all women tolerate abusive behavior, but a great deal of them do. I really hope this doesn't happen again for Rihanna's sake. The couple is supposedly staying at one of Diddy's homes in Miami. The both of them are young and I realize that at age, sometimes people disregard the obvious until it's too late. Love can cloud the judgment of many, especially when you are young; believe me I know. I really hope this is the last time that we hear about any violence between the couple.

Lil' Wayne's "Prom Queen" Teaser

So I'm pretty sure most of you have heard about Weezy's upcoming rock album, which is coming this Spring. The lead single from the album is "Prom Queen." Now, here's a video teaser. Do ya'll think Lil Wayne will be successful with his rock project? Honestly, I am not too sure how it will do. He definitely has a lot of fans out there so it will interesting to see if he still has that mass appeal on the rock side of the music spectrum...

This could be crazy Rick Rubin and Clipse

Clipse must be trying to win a grammy working with the godfather of producers Rick Rubin.. I love to see things like this.

Devante Swing talks about Chris Brown and Rihanna?!?

Ok so I mostly posted this because I am a fan of Devante. I hate to post any popcorn media on Chris and Rihanna.. Anyway, look.. it is Devante haha:

Can Usher make a come back?

Let's face it, Usher's album kind of hit a brick this past year commercially. Besides the first single nothing really worked for him on radio, fans gave the album thumbs down, and the sound of the album seemed to be all over the place and bubble gummy. Jermaine Dupri has been doing a new series of blogs called Oceans 5. Oceans 5 is a team of Johnta Austin, Usher, JD, B. Cox, and Tyrone.. This could be interesting.. Usher is dealing with the recent upset of his last album, JD is going through a slow streak and was recently let go by Def Jam, and B Cox has been fairly quiet on the charts for a while too.. These guys could potentially all have a chip on their shoulder and make a big come back for Usher especially considering they both have history with Usher and reviving artists that slipped. This should be a very telling project. Do you all think all these guys can rekindle the chemistry? Keep in mind they are responsible for Usher - U got it bad, burn, confessions and jd with nice and slow, you make me wanna etc. the list goes on..

Angie Martinez Interviews Ryan Leslie...

I have a lot of respect for Ryan Leslie. He's a talented songwriter, producer, and artist. His latest CD is amazing and I am glad that it's finally in stores on February 17, 2009. With the help of a good UK buddy of mine, I heard his first album Just Right , which wasn't released in the U.S. Anyway, from the moment I heard that CD, I was a fan of The Talented Mr. Leslie. Make you sure you cop his latest self-titled CD because it's even better than the first and check out his newest artist Krys Ivory too! In the interview, he talks about his album and more...

Erykah Badu's New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) Delayed...

Well, originally Erykah Badu's follow-up to last years New Amerykah Part One (4th World War), was supposed to released on July 2008. Then, it was pushed back to February 17, 2009, which we all know didn't happen. My guess it that her recent birth could be the reason for the delay. From what I am hearing, either, "Annie" or "Jump in the Air" may be the lead tracks from the album. Right now, it looks as if there is no word on when the album will be released. I, for one, will be patiently waiting. I enjoyed her last album alot and it was actually one of my favorite albums last year.

Danger Mouse: Producer Spotlight

Danger Mouse is one of my favorite producers and we all know that he's apart of the group Gnarls Barkley with soulful singer Cee-Lo. Before Gnarls Barkley though, Danger Mouse remixed Jay-Z's entire The Black Album and penned his version The Grey Album. Danger Mouse basically took the accapellas from Jay-Z's album and combined them with instrumentals from The Beatles. That project got him a lot of positive feedback and attention. He also worked with rapper MF DOOM to form DANGERDOOM. If you are a fan of The Gorillaz, which I am, he produced their entire second album titled, Demon Dayz. One of the hottest tracks on that album was "Feel Good Inc," in which he produced. Presently, his work has mostly been with Gnarls Barkley. Anyway, I found this interview from the producer that was recorded back in 2006 I believe. In the interview, he talks about how he linked up with Cee-Lo to form Gnarls Barkley. Also, he talks about his views on music in general. It's a cool interview from a taltented producer...check it out...

Video Premiere-"Welcome to Heartbreak"/Kanye Interviews with Sway

"Welcome to Heartbreak" is one of my favorite tracks on Kanye's album. The track features Kid Cudi...This is a cool video, but it kinda makes me dizzy...LOL!!! Also check out this recent Kanye West interview in which he discusses tight jeans and even freestyles...

Who's Looking Forward to that Kid Cudi Album?

I am! Kid Cudi is one of my favorite artists right now. If you are not familiar with him, he's signed to Kanye's Label G.O.O.D Music/Fool's Gold. For you Kanye lovers out there, he was also on "Welcome to Heartbreak" on Kanye's album 808's and Heartbreak and he helped out on more tracks on the album, such as "Paranoid" and "Heartless." He released his current single, "Day N' Nite" back in 2008 on his mixtape and the single is still picking up steam and getting more popularity. Some say the single is going to be included on his upcoming album Man on the Moon: The Guardians, which is scheduled for release this Spring. There's no word yet on who will appear on the album, but I am sure Kanye will be on it somewhere. Here's an interview that I found, in which Kid Cudi talks about his upcoming album and working with Kanye West. The interview was recorded before 808's and Heartbreak came out and he mentioned possibly having two tracks on the album, but he actually had songwriting credits on three tracks. Anyway, look out for Kid Cudi this year and I hope the interview will give you more insight about the Cleveland-born rapper that is ready to make his mark in the industry...

World Premier: Prowlaman's "Off"

I've given you all the background on Prowlaman now here is his brand new video "off."

HOT!! New KANYE WEST remix by producer JUSTICE(BEATS)

This is a FIYA remix!! We could definitely hear this one bumpin in the clubs! Producer JUSTICE(BEATS), impresses us once again with her remix of Kanye West's STREET LIGHTS off his 808s and heartbreak album.

I mess with this guy

He has a lot of passion and I respect what he is about:

Different stories about how the original 5 got started..

Eminem's Has #1 Debut...

Eminem has a hit on his hands with "Crack A Bottle." His new single has jumped on The Billboard Hot 100 Charts from Number 78 to 1. Also, the song has been downloaded like crazy and as of February 12, 2009, download sales have totaled to 418,000 according to Neilsen's Soundscan. Eminem has actually broken a record for the most debut week downloads. This will be the second #1 hit for Eminem.

I believe that Eminem's upcoming album will be one of the most top selling projects this year. I definitely think Lil Wayne is going to have a lot of "A Milli" competition this year from Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Jay-Z. It will be interesting to see how things play out...

Is Chris Brown's Career Over?

I am sure all of us have heard about the Chris Brown and Rihanna incident by now. I was very shocked when I heard the news. I thought they were so cute together and they seemed to be so in love! TMZ has recently reported that a text message from another girl got the fight going. Apparently, Chris Brown and Rihanna were driving around when he received a text message from another woman that mentioned they were going to "hook up later." I guess we all know how things ended from there. The couple had an altercation, which left Rihanna bruised and in a battered condition.

So where do things go from here? Do you think Chris Brown's career is ruined? I heard that some of his endorsements are pulling out on him and his songs are being pulled from many radio stations around the United States. I mean, he isn't the only celebrity that's had these problems, but the way things look; his career may never be the same. My heart definitely goes out to Rihanna in the situation and I hope that she is in better shape now.

Do You Remember Battling?

Watching "Notorious" got me thinking about how much I miss Hip-Hop in the 80's and 90's. Who remembers the ancient, Hip-Hop art of battling? Notably, Biggie battled a lot of people throughout his neighborhood growing up and eventually became one of the best lyrical threats of all time. And Biggie wasn't the only MC known for rapping in his local neighborhood either. Rappers such as Eminem, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Nas, Hip-Hop legend KRS-One, Cannibus, LL Cool J, and many others, embraced the very culture that garnered them fame and notoriety.

Battle rap or freestyling is an important element of Hip-Hop that I feel has been lost somewhat. It originated back in the '80's on the East Coast. A rap battle basically involves two people showcasing their lyrical skills back and forth. In my opinion, a true rap battle involves freestyling. If one contestant in a rap battle wrote down their lyrics before the battle took place, it would take away from the general idea of it. To me, a true rap battle involves spitting lyrics from the top of your dome; no thinking involved.

Nowadays, it seems more prominent that battle raps appear mostly in the form of a diss record. Basically, rappers are creating beefs or dissing each other through music in an attempt to generate attention or media hype. Over the past years, there have been many battle records, in which MC's diss each other over someone else's beat. We all know the whole "beef" scenario reached a high point when Biggie and 2Pac were killed.

I recall watching a lot of battle competitions in the past and they are so exciting to watch actually. Watching MC's come up with original content at the spare of the moment is just fun and entertaining. BET has a battle rap competition on 106 and Park, but it's not as raw, original, or real as some of the competitions that I've seen. In real battle competitions MC's can say what they want to say, so I do understand why BET has to censor their competition.

Anyway, I just wanted to shed light on an important element in Hip-Hop. Battling truly involves creative, raw talent. It takes a talented individual to freestyle creative words, phrases, metaphors, etc. And I hope that that lyricists today pay more attention to lyrical content; not just rhyming to sell records, but take the time to really incorporate the essence of Hip-Hop into their music. It would be cool to see some of these rappers have a battle competition face to face; in it's original form.

Grammy Performance of "Swagga Like Us"

One of the highlights of the Grammy's was Jay-Z, T.I, Kanye West, pregnant M.I.A, and Lil Wayne performing "Swagga Like Us." I guess M.I.A decided to get on stage and roc the mic with some of Hip-Hop's greatest superstars. It was good to see all of them on stage together.

Rihanna and Chris Brown transcript

Hi, I am new to contributing to this site.  My name is Nick Lachey.  I am not the Nick Lachey, I just happen to share the name of one of the greatest pop icons of all time.  For my first post on stayondeck.com, I will be reporting on an exclusive text transcript found from the Rihanna vs Chris Brown "domestic beat down":

(exiting club heading to the car)

Rihanna: Hey Chris you never told me if you liked my dress or not?
Chris:  oh.. uhh yeah it's cool..
R: what do u mean it is cool.. do u think it makes me look fat?
C:  yeah but I like it when  you look a little chubby
R: WHAT?!?  you aren't supposed to say that.. you are supposed to say I look good
C: why r u talking funny??
R:  That's my accent chris.  U know I have an accent because I am from the virgin islands and so is Tim Duncan but he has no accent.
C:  well I can't understand what the fuck u r saying sometimes..
R: umm excuse me.. pshh please.. u look so dumb right now
C:  speak ENGLISH.. ENGLISH.. I'm not from Sweden
R: I'm not even Swedish you idiot
C: I don't care where your from but I can't understand what you are saying and I'm about to woop your ass in this car because you're pissing me off and now your gonna catch a beat down..
R: What??  You are really out of control right now!

From there Chris Brown got Rihanna in a flying arm bar, broke her arm off.. Then all she had for her left arm was a little nub.  The nub started twitching and shaking real fast.  Chris proceeded to get Rihanna into a choke but rihanna was able to get leverage and flip Chris off to take the mount position.  Once pinned on the ground, Chris fish hooked Rihanna and ripped a hole out of her cheek then escaped into the darkness of the night while Rihanna headed straight to the ER..

more updates coming soon.

No Beyonce' for Etta James...

Wow listen to this...Etta James has some words for Beyonce, who starred in Cadillac Records, as the jazz singer. Apparently, she is mad because Beyonce sang her song "At Last" at the Inauguration. To tell you the truth, I didn't even know that Etta James was alive. What she said was pretty mean in this video. I will say this though; they could've at least invited Etta James to sing the song with Beyonce or something like that to show some respect. However, like I said earlier, I didn't even know that she was alive! I wonder what Beyonce thinks about what she said...Etta James sounded like my grandmama in this video...LOL!!! Oh, and she also had some words for our new President too...

*Update*

Etta James recently stated that she was just joking around and didn't mean anything regarding her comments about Beyonce or Obama. The singer did admit that she felt left out by not being asked to sing the song with Beyonce.

For all the true hip-hop heads.. A few throwbacks

The Dream and Mariah Kickin' It On the Set..

I Knew Lupe Was Full of It!!

Remember last year when Lupe Fiasco was spitting that retirement B.S? He stated that LupE.N.D. would be his final album. Well, now he's singing a different tune. The rapper now states that his final album LupE.N.D. is put on hold until further notice. Lupe has a different approach now. Over the next couple of years, he's planning to release at least three albums.

So for those of you who were expecting LupE.N.D., instead get ready for The Great American Rap Album, which will arrive in stores in June. In his own words, the rapper states, "See ya’ll in June and again in December and again next June. LupE.N.D. right after that..when the liberation comes!”

The rumor is that Lupe may owe Atlantic Records more albums according to his contract. Back in September he stated that he didn't feel like rapping anymore, and now I am wondering if our new President has him buzzing again? I'm just speculating due to his recent statements and the title of his album. Anyway, I knew he was going to do this. If you got love for it, then you got love for it. You may have those high and lows where you feel uninspired at times, but that inspiration always comes back! I can't wait to hear the next album though. I am a big Lupe fan.

Jim Jonsin interview

Jim Jonsin's produced songs with Ti, Wayne etc.

50 goes in on Rick Ross.. just a little rap beef

I guess since Wayne won't even acknowledge 50's comments now he has to move down the line. I heard from an un named source that 50 is pretty nervous about upcoming album sales.. It seems like radio just isn't giving him love like they used to but apparently he's killing it over seas still though... Not sure if he has the clout for beef anymore but this is still entertaining..
